I visited the Hollyhock House in February of 2020 right before things got crazy with COVID-19. Thanks to a lecture series that was happening I was able to get visit this amazing home for free. Docents were placed throughout the home to offer insight but it was nice to get to walk around on our own.

And yet there’s no denying that it’s the same house. Gone are the shutters and the consistent color scheme. Today the house features wood siding on the top half and a small portico has been added over the front porch. The house is still standing in the very spot where it was built for filming.
Famous TV and Movie Houses in Los Angeles That Are A Must See
The biggest bummer is that you cannot take photography indoors. I was in awe of the living room and so badly wanted a picture. The architect shows them the rendering of how it will look when it’s finished and the music swells.

The address for the house from The Fosters is 2330 E. The address for the Last Man Standing house is 611 Lorraine Boulevard in Windsor Square. The address for the apartment from New Girl is 837 Traction Avenue in DTLA.
Over the years the color of the house has changed several times, the white picket fence is gone, but the unique shape is still recognizable. The House from Pee Wee’s Big Adventure is located at 1848 Oxley Street in South Pasadena. I wish I could visit the iconic Braverman house that Zeke and Camile owned on Parenthood but that was built on the Universal Backlots. However, there are locations where the many other characters lived that can be visited. This Pasadena home is where Adam & Kristina raise their three children on the show.
Movie and TV Show Houses in Long Beach
The Father Of The Bride House is one of my favorites because it looks like such a perfect family home. There are actually two homes that you can visit that were used in the movie. Can’t you just picture Franck and his team adding all of the finishing touches for the wedding reception? You can also visit the home used for the basketball scenes in Alhambra. This house is most likely recognized from being used in the movie The Big Lebowski. It was built from 1961 to 1963 It was built as a cave-like dwelling that embraces nature.

It just happens to be five minutes away from my favorite place to eat. I definitely recommend getting food from Aroma Coffee and Tea while you’re in the area. Whether you are local to Los Angeles or are planning to visit this blog has been created with you in mind. I hope that by sharing my adventures I am able to help you discover new and exciting places in LA. The Chateau style home was built in 1909 by Rollin B. Lane.
Also, the ‘as built’ home shows a roof line different than that of the promotional plans. The rear roof line over the living room seems to be lower than the front roof line, whereas the published plans show these as equal. This would allow for a larger living room and avoids having the side terrace door from being placed on-center to the living room fireplace.
But years of strolling past a five-bedroom adobe with a terra-cotta shingle roof and a balcony bursting with blooms—just one block from their original residence—tugged at their heartstrings. When a for-sale sign went up, the pair pulled out of Beverly Hills and instead doubled down on Hancock Park. All that was required to turn their new house into a home? I love The Spadena House also known as The Witches House.

The Mad Men house is actually walking distance from the Father Of The Bride house. This list will continue to be updated as I visit more filming locations. Be sure to check back to see what else gets added to this list. The Ennis House was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and built in 1924. Ancient Mayan temples were the basis for the design. The house has 27,000 perforated and patterned decomposed granite blocks.
Finding filming locations from movies and TV shows has become one of my favorite things to do. Lately, I have been visiting a lot of famous TV and movie houses in Los Angeles. Almost any part of the LA area will be home to at least one or two of the iconic houses. Since all the homes on this list are private residences I do ask and recommend that you try and be as respectful as possible when you go to visit. One of my favorite movies – and houses 😀You’ll note that the house, ‘as built’ differed from the promotional plans published by the studio.
My favorite scene is when Myrna LOy asks the painter about the paint colors .I use this always when Im buying paint .. If Los Angeles is the the city of angels, then its citizens must be filled with lofty dreams. Whether focused on silver screen glory or the California good life, these residents know how to they want to live. Case in point may just be the countless alluring homes that dot L.A.’s urban landscape.
One of the funniest things was that the plans did not include closets or windows. Contractors were left to their own devices on these. In the late 1940's, Jim Blandings, a successful account executive in the advertising business, lives with his wife Muriel and two daughters, Betsy and Joan, in a cramped New York apartment. Muriel secretly plans to knock out a wall and remodel their apartment for $7,000. After rejecting this idea, Jim comes across an ad for new homes in Connecticut and they get excited about moving.
It seems that there are houses that have been modeled after the Mr. Blandings Dream House all over the country! Did you all know this, and I have just been out of the loop?! Apparently David O. Selznick and RKO Pictures P.R. Department cooked up a little publicity stunt. They produced copies of the original house plans created by set designer, Carroll Clark and sent them all over the country to contractors hoping to have Dream Houses built all over the place. 73 were actually built....one being in Fresno California (pictured above). The original owners allowed home tours for 25 cents back in the day.
I’d like to know if the house still stands after the latest fires that destroyed some of the park. LOVE that there is still the original and many “replicas”. There is a replica of this house that was done for the movie here in Terre Haute Indiana too.
